Do You Know that You’re on Your Way to Heaven?
Your eternal destination doesn’t have to be a mystery. The Bible says in I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe.” God wants you to know that you are going to have a home in Heaven with Him when you die. The steps are simple. It isn’t some hard process. You only need to understand a few principles.
You must understand that God loves you. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have every lasting life.” The whole purpose of Creation was for God to have fellowship with man. He loves us. Regard of what we’ve done or our station in life. God loves us.
You must understand that everyone is a sinner. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” No one is perfect. No matter how hard we try, we’ll never be perfect. We make mistakes every day.
You must understand that sin must be paid for. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Though we all like the thought of living in Heaven forever, we are not good enough to get there. Regardless of how much we think we’re doing to gain His favor, the truth is we cannot do enough to outweigh all of our sin. Because of this, we are destined for a very real place called Hell.
You must understand that Jesus died to pay the price for your sin. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” How wonderful that Jesus decided to take that punishment upon Himself so that we can get into Heaven. He went to the cross to die in our place.
You must ask Jesus to forgive your sin. Romans 10:9, 13 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, though shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Jesus already paid the penalty for your sin, but you have to accept it. It’s like a gift that someone has purchased for you, but it does you no good if you don’t reach out and take it.
Pray a prayer similar to this… Lord, I know that I have sinned, and because of that sin, I deserve Hell. I know that Jesus came to Earth to die for my sin. Please forgive me and save me. Amen.
If just read through this and you’ve accepted Jesus as your Savior, please let us know. We’d love to be able to encourage you as you begin your new life in Jesus.
